Meet the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers Alliance (APAWLA), one of LACBA’s newest affiliates, founded in 1993. APAWLA is a dynamic organization that empowers, supports, and advocates for Asian Pacific American women in the legal profession.
APAWLA and LACBA co-sponsored two popular events in 2024: Celebrating Women’s HerStory Month, a March 28 fundraiser for APAIT, a nonprofit that provides health and social services to vulnerable communities, and Women in Leadership - Applying and Serving on Public Boards and Commissions, an August 15 panel discussion featuring prominent women leaders.
As a LACBA affiliate, APAWLA enjoys the benefits of reaching a wider audience, collaborating with other legal associations, and enhancing its visibility and impact.

Founded in 1993, APAWLA is an organization that promotes inclusion, empowerment and advancement of Asian Pacific American women in the legal profession. We’re devoted to advocating, educating, mentoring, networking, and developing leadership within the profession and larger community. Our members include lawyers, judges, and law students throughout California. We work in solo practices, law firms, state and federal courts; we are prosecutors, defenders and civil practitioners; we work for non-profits and government agencies; and, inspired by the great movement for Civil Rights, we share a common goal of gender and racial equality.
