Dear LACBA Members and Friends,

The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) joins the world community in observing International Remembrance Day commemorated each year on January 27, the anniversary of the liberation of the largest Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945. We honor the memory of the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution. This dark chapter in human history was possible because the Nazis dehumanized Jews and other groups of people they targeted, and many chose to remain silent in the face of gross injustice.

Sadly, this anniversary comes at a time when intolerance, hatred and dehumanization of persons perceived to be “other” for any number of reasons are on the rise. Let us honor the victims of the Holocaust by strongly condemning and opposing antisemitism, and all forms of discrimination. Let us instead recognize the shared humanity of all people and our interconnected fates.

To learn more about the Holocaust, we invite you to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website

LACBA is a diverse community and is committed to ensuring respect, dignity, and equal justice under the law for all persons. Stand with us.

Warm regards,
