After an active and varied career in finance, Glenn Benitz is stepping down from his post as LACBA’s Director of Finance. Glenn’s path included experience in public accounting, running his own CPA firm, time as Controller for Salem Communications, and a stint as CFO for YCS Transportation Industries in Las Vegas. Before joining LACBA, he worked at a non-profit museum in Ventura County, rounding out a résumé with both private sector and nonprofit know-how.

Glenn’s journey with LACBA began on February 1, 2016, when he was hired as Controller. From day one, he brought his expertise and steady hand to the organization’s finances, guiding LACBA through periods of change and challenge. His commitment and leadership were recognized when, on June 30, 2020, his title officially changed to Director of Finance—a role that reflected both his dedication and the trust placed in him by the association.

For Glenn, the move to LACBA felt like a logical next step—transitioning from one nonprofit to another. What made the role at LACBA stand out was the organization’s multiple, diverse revenue streams and the unique governance structure, with a board composed entirely of attorneys—an uncommon setup in the finance world.

Throughout his tenure, Glenn saw LACBA through evolving challenges. For him, finance’s role was clear: keep the organization focused on its roots while adapting to new economic realities. “Understanding your origins and being open to change is essential,” he says.

Asked what advice he’d leave for his team, Glenn’s response is straightforward: “Treat my replacement as well as they treated me.” As for what he’ll miss most, Glenn points to the work itself and the weekly interactions with staff, but he’s looking forward to having more time for personal pursuits in retirement.

Glenn’s legacy at LACBA is one of steady management and adaptability—a fitting close to a long career spent balancing the books and steering organizations through change.
