Dear Members and Friends,
The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) joins the world community in observing International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this date, January 27, 1945, the largest Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated. Today, we pause and remember the more than six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. We also honor the survivors of Nazi barbarity and their families, and we take inspiration from the strength and resilience of the Jewish people.
LACBA will always condemn the mindless racism and bigotry that motivated the Holocaust. Unfortunately, our nation has seen a rise in antisemitism and hateful incidents directed at the Jewish community over the past several years. On January 11, 2023, a swastika and the words “Auschwitz Welcome” were found painted on a Los Angeles bus stop.
This vile antisemitism has led to terrible incidents of violence against Jews, including the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018. These senseless attacks happen in our society far too often. LACBA is committed to doing everything in its power to stamp out antisemitism and hate of every kind.
Hatred and intolerance have no place in our society. We call on all members of the Los Angeles legal community to stand with LACBA to ensure respect, dignity, and equal justice under the law for all persons.
On this day, we invite our members to learn, remember, and join the conversation through online events organized by the Holocaust Museum LA as well as resources and events found on the US Holocaust Memorial Museum Remembrance Day page. Never forget.
Sincerely,

Ann I. Park
LACBA President
