Dear Members and Friends,

We are pleased to inform you that the proposed amendments to our current bylaws regarding affiliate associations and law students' access to Barristers/Young Attorneys Section membership have been approved by LACBA members.

In essence, these amendments serve to clarify and rectify previous changes, promote good governance, and simplify processes concerning our relationships with Affiliated Associations. The new amendments also extend Barristers/Young Attorneys membership from the first five (5) years to the first ten (10) years of admission to the State Bar of California regardless of age in recognition that newer lawyers may join the profession at a later stage in life.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all LACBA members who actively participated in the voting process, which took place from May 17 to June 2. The voting results were announced during the Board of Trustees meeting on June 14, 2023. See the Board Approved Resolution.
