LACBA is pleased to announce Michael Kim as its new Senior Business Development Manager. In this role, Kim manages partner relationships, including sponsorships and development strategies. 

A new online Legal Resource Library supporting the Rule of Law and immigration services has launched. Developed by LACBA and CAALA, the online library offers legal tools, educational resources, and volunteer opportunities.

LACBA's annual Installation and Awards Dinner is Friday, June 20. President Sarvenaz Bahar will pass the gavel to President-Elect Jeffrey B. Margulies and new LACBA Officers and Board of Trustees leadership will be inducted. The evening includes an award ceremony recognizing eight individuals and special guest Hon. Patricia Guerrero, Chief Justice of California. 

LACBA is part of a coalition of legal associations and organizations that filed an amici curiae brief supporting Susman Godfrey’s motion for summary judgment and for declaratory and permanent injunctive relief in Susman Godfrey LLP v. Executive Office of the President, et al.

Take part in L.A.’s National Law Day of Action on May 1st, noon, at the downtown Federal Courthouse Plaza. This event is part of a nationwide effort to support the rule of law.

LACBA has joined bar associations across the U.S. in filing an amicus curiae brief in support of Perkins Coie LLP’s motion for summary judgement, arguing that an executive order undermines the independence of the legal profession and the judiciary, which threatens the rule of law.

SmartLaw is excited to announce a new partnership with EHI/Emergency Help International to expand their services to Japanese-speaking clients in the United States and Japan.

LOS ANGELES, March 17, 2025 – The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) announces its Officer and Board of Trustee nominees for the 2025-2026 bar year with terms commencing July 1, 2025. President-Elect Jeffrey B. Margulies will automatically become LACBA President.

Congratulations to LACBA's annual award winners. Senator Thomas J. Umberg is this year’s Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer. Supervising Judge Kelvin D. Filer is the Outstanding Jurist for 2025. And Justice Helen Zukin is the Philip H. Lam Diversity Impact Award recipient. All three will be honored at the Installation and Awards Dinner, June 20 at the Bonaventure Hotel.
