Summary

Program Description:

This program will cover Assembly Bill (AB) 2011 and Senate Bill (SB) 6, which will be operative on July 1, 2023.  Both laws allow for qualifying residential projects on commercially zoned properties, but AB 2011 is expected to be the go-to for housing developers because it provides for the “by right” streamlined ministerial (i.e., no CEQA) approval of qualifying projects.   The presentation will focus on the requirements that must be met under AB 2011 for mixed-income projects, along with a summary of the key differences between AB 2011 and SB 6.  The presentation will also cover utilization of the State Density Bonus law in combination with these new housing laws to maximize residential density.
