In 2019, the Los Angeles County Bar Association President’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Legal Profession established the Elizabeth L. Kenney Women Lawyers of Achievement Award.

Award Criteria

The award honors the accomplishments of women who have achieved outstanding recognition in their professional area(s) of expertise and have paved the way for the success of other women in the profession. The award recognizes outstanding contributions as a lawyer, jurist, author, educator, administrator, public policy advocate, government or non-profit employee, elected or appointed official, bar leader, community leader or in some other capacity.

The award honors women in the legal profession who have:

• achieved excellence in their respective field(s); and/or

• influenced other women to pursue legal carriers; and/or

• opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings historically closed to women; and/or

• advanced opportunities for women within a practice area or segment of the profession; and/or

• have otherwise served their profession or community in a manner that has benefited women in the legal profession.
