Litigation Section
Formed over 50 years ago, the Litigation Section endeavors to advance the interests of civil trial practitioners in Los Angeles County; maintain a working, supportive relationship with the courts to further the administration of justice and effective resolution of civil conflicts; study and make recommendations on proposed rules and legislation which may affect civil litigation practice; promote the art of civil trial advocacy among the bar through informative discussions and educational symposiums, including our well-attended Federal Courts and Complex Courts Symposiums; and generally promote and further the interests of our legal profession as a whole.
The Litigation Section also offers a means for networking and forging meaningful connections within our legal community through signature events such as our annual Bench Meets the Bar Luncheon.
Events and Initiatives
The Litigation Section’s annual Bench Meets the Bar Luncheon provides a platform for area civil lawyers to connect with judicial officers to come together, network, and discuss the latest developments in the federal, state, and appellate courts. This gathering is a unique opportunity for participants to engage in meaningful conversations and foster professional relationships within the legal community.
The Jim Robie Professionalism and Civility Award, given to a Los Angeles trial lawyer whose career demonstrates professionalism, civility, service, enthusiasm and collegiality, is also presented each year at the luncheon.
